Explore the Filipino delicacy that is Century Egg from Gloria Maris, a dim sum restaurant next to Green Hills mall in Manila, Philippines. It’s a preserved egg, also known as the black egg. It is exploring the fantastic world of the dim sum after some crazy shopping. I had to try this famous Asian delicatessen right at the source, especially when it’s just $4 (190 pesos). Its an egg preserved in the mixture of clay, ash, salt, quicklime, and rice hulls for several weeks to several months. I’ve tried this before back in the USA and didn’t like it as much. It was the texture that I didn’t like, but of course, any Asian dish is much better in Asia. Here in the Philippines it has more flavor and light texture. It was a satisfying dish that I wanted to try. Not so sure it’s my thing.
